Non-working Apple TVs can be repaired directly using an iPhone smartphone, thanks to iOS 17. The new software will attempt to 'restore' the device if an issue is detected that prevents the Apple TV from starting up.

Now, in case of a software problem on an Apple TV HD model with tvOS 17 installed, an iPhone image will appear on the screen. This warning indicates that the device is currently unusable and needs repair.
