Ivanka Trump must testify in person at her father’s civil fraud trial in Manhattan, a federal judge ruled Friday.Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Arthur Engoron made the decision after hearing arguments from Ivanka and Donald Trump’s lawyers on why she shouldn’t be forced to testify in the case, which involves allegations her father lied about his financial worth to enrich himself in business dealings. “I want to see her in person. That is how we prefer testimony,” Engoron said.Ivanka, who was not in court Friday, was originally a defendant in New York Attorney General Leticia James’ $250 million lawsuit against the Trump Organization, but she was dismissed as a defendant by a state appeals court in June.Engoron ruled that the former president’s daughter would not take the witness stand before Nov. 1, giving her the opportunity to appeal his decision.
