Amber Heard said she "suddenly" thought of "Kate Moss and the stairs" while describing a fight with Johnny Depp that involved her sister Whitney. Heard, who took the stand on Thursday in the libel case between the two actors, went over one of her many fights with Depp. This fight took place in March 2015.
Heard said she threw a can of Red Bull at Depp, hitting him in the back, adding that he called her a "fucking p**seven." She said her ex-husband, enraged, followed her up the stairs.
Heard said Depp caught her, at which point her sister Whitney intervened.
"Whitney put herself in the line of fire," Heard said. Hear "He was trying to stop Johnny. His back was to the stairs, and Johnny was punching him... I didn't hesitate, I suddenly thought of Kate Moss and the stairs. For the first time, I hit him, right in the face. And he didn't push my sister down the stairs. At that point in our relationship." "I never hit Johnny until now," he said.
"Johnny was stunned, then laughed at me and then lunged at me again," Heard added. According to Heard, security guards intervened at this moment.
In the summer of 2020, Heard claimed that Depp pushed the model down the stairs while he was with Kate Moss in the 1990s.
During the libel case between Depp and The Sun newspaper in the United Kingdom in 2020, Heard said:
"Depp pushed Kate Moss down the stairs, I heard about it from two people and I never forgot it."
In her statement at the time, Heard added, "I reacted to defend my sister. I had been Johnny's punching bag for years, but I hadn't hit her once in years. This was the first time in all these years that I hit her back."
The defamation lawsuit between Depp and Heard began on April 11 in Fairfax, Virginia, after Depp filed a lawsuit against his ex-wife in March 2019. Depp claims that his ex-wife attacked his personal rights in his opinion article titled "I spoke out against sexual violence and incurred the wrath of our culture. This has to change" published in The Washington Post in December 2018.
In her opinion piece in 2018, Heard said, "Like many women, I was harassed and sexually assaulted until I was at university age. But I remained silent, not expecting that filing a complaint would bring justice. I did not see myself as a victim."
“Then two years ago, I became a public figure representing domestic violence and felt the full force of our culture's wrath against women who speak out,” Heard added.
Although Depp is not named in the article, the actor's legal team claims the article contains "the obvious implication that Depp is a domestic abuser" and says this is "categorically and patently false". Depp is demanding "at least $50 million" in damages.
Heard, on the other hand, filed a countersuit of $100 million against Depp, seeking to end the harassment he caused and to be exempt from the accusations.
